YAY! I've been waiting for a couple of days for this one to dry.
This one is my first attempt at a fully coloured fantasy painting, particularly with no references (i usually only do imagination stuff in pen or pencil). I had a lot of fun with it and i think i did ok
The dragons are opposites, so the lighting was intentional. For the red one, i tried to make it come from the top right hand side of the page, and for the blue one i tried to make it come from the top left hand side of the page to emphasise the rivalry between them. Also, the blue dragon i've tried to do a bit softer, with curly aquatic spine things, whilst the red dragon has hard spines curling in the opposite direction.
I also tried to keep the detail simple so i can get my head around colouring without references.
The background was inspired by Hibbary's tutorials for creating interesting traditional backgrounds. I used my own materials and applied some of my own techniques, but Hibbary has always been a huge influence for me
